The successful fundraising efforts of the Australia Day Committee via the popular Fun Day at Gordon Park reaped special rewards for the Nambucca Valley Youth Services, in the form of a $3000 cheque.
Youthie co-ordinator Steve Montgomery accepted the donation.
The day started at 5am with stall holders, barbecues, rides, sound system and stage all being set up and food delivered.
While country music played, the crowd enjoyed a range of water events, displays, presentations by community groups, the Fun Run and Captain Cook Challenge and, a highlight, the annual Crustacean Cup crab race.
Participation in the kid’s events was high with enthusiastic engagement in the boot throwing, as well as the egg and spoon race.
Planning for next year’s events will be begin in early July; the Australia Day Committee and the Nambucca Heads Lions Club look forward to the continued support of the local community.
