Two Egyptian planes carrying shelter materials, medicines, and medical devices arrived at Khartoum International Airport as part of an air bridge that consists of nine planes and will continue until next Thursday.
Under the directives of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the air bridge comes within the framework of the country’s support for and solidarity with the Sudanese people during various crises.
The two military transport planes carried tons of humanitarian aid, including tents and blankets provided by the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, in response to torrential rains and floods in Sudan.
The Sudanese side expressed its thanks, saying such assistance reflects the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations.
Sudan’s Minister of Social Development Ahmed Adam Bakhit said his country had previously received Egyptian humanitarian aid during its struggle with COVID-19 and flooding last year.
